More Men In Nursing Scrubs… Or are there more?
Many people are used to stereotyping the nursing profession to women. Though it has been clearly being changed and defied by many men who also believe that the nursing profession is a very rewarding career aside from good pay and stable working opportunity, it is also a very fulfilling job of being able to care for the sick and the needy patients.
But has this way of thinking really been eliminated to the general society?
Many think that men are incapable of performing the same as the women nurses. Some consider certain female characteristics suit well for the nursing profession. But is there really that so-called female characteristic/s that distinguishes female nurses from male nurses? Are there female characteristics that make them more superior than male?
Others on the other hand, say that male nurses can be better in this profession since men are stronger than women physically. They are more capable in handling patients, especially in emergency situations and when there is carrying involve. But is this really true to all cases? Can’t women also do the same? Can’t women be strong enough physically to take heavy tasks like these?
Or do you think that both have equal potential and capability? Can both do what the other can do? Do you think nowadays men and women have equal rights and qualification in getting a nursing career?
What is your stand in all of these? Which side will you take?
Can you give examples to prove your point and opinion?
